Arcadia Point Oyster

Crassostrea gigas

Arcadia Point is the eastern most point on the south bank of Hammersley Inlet. Although the harvest area is technically Hammersley Inlet, it would better be described as the convergence zone of Hammersley Inlet, Totten Inlet and Pickering Passage. The oysters are grown from hatchery produced seed in the ever-popular bag to beach method. The high flow of nutrient rich water creates a quick growing oyster with great meat-to-shell ratio. The oysters tend to have moderate initial salt, followed by a bit of sweetness and finish with a hint of melon or cucumber.
